Do I really need to use infill with Gator X-Turf? Other turf brands claim it’s not needed.
While Gator X-Turf can technically be installed without the use of infill sand, we don’t recommend doing this. Our installation steps feature best practices in order to get the longest lifespan possible. Infill sand provides a number of benefits, including:
Protects the turf backing from being punctured or torn
Keeps the blades upright
Creates better air circulation to prevent moss/mildew
Holds the turf in place
Provides shock absorption

What’s the advantage of having a round vs. angular aggregate for the infill sand?
Round aggregates will not compact, therefore allowing the infill sand to stay loose and fluffy. This will ultimately provide better shock absorption and better drainage. Round aggregates will also not damage the turf blades or other surfaces, should they get tracked around.
What infill is recommended for the X-Turf Putting Green Blend?
Due to its smaller particle size, the Beige Infill Sand is appropriate. We recommend using ¼ - ½ lb. per s.f.

You recommend Gator XP Glue for Gator X-Turf. How long does that product take to cure?
Gator XP Glue is a moisture-cure product and works especially well on porous material (like pavers). Because turf and seam tape are not porous, the cure time will likely take a full 24 hours. To expedite the process, you may consider spritzing the seam tape with water before applying the glue.

You say to install spikes every 6” on the perimeter and every 12” on the interior of the turf. Do I really need that many?
We’re promoting best installation practices. Following this recommendation will give you the longest lifespan for the Gator X-Turf.
What’s the best Gator X-Turf option for pets?
We’d recommend using either the Classic or Putting Green Blends in an application designed for pets. The lower pile height of these products will make the turf easier to aerate and wash. Zeo-lite Infill Sand can also be used with the Classic Blend to help neutralize odors.
